Irvin Liu is a Los Angeles–based Taiwanese American Director of Photography whose work is grounded in story-driven, emotional visual storytelling. He received a Panavision nomination for Best Narrative Feature Cinematography for Dealing With Dad, and his short film Query premiered at Tribeca Film Festival, earning a nomination for Best Narrative Short. Most recently, Irvin shot the Emmy-nominated docuseries The Swift Effect for Peacock. His latest narrative feature, How I Learned to Fly, became the #1 film streaming on Starz following its theatrical release.
A committed advocate for the filmmaking community, Irvin has led masterclasses for Film Independent and served as a creative advisor for the SFFILM FilmHouse Residency. He is an alumnus of Film Independent’s Project Involve and the ASC Mentorship Program, and is a member of the Television Academy.
Irvin's work has appeared on HBO, Hulu, Starz, Peacock, and Amazon. In the commercial space, he has partnered with global brands including Nike, Adidas, Converse, MotorTrend, Experian, Allergan, Swiss Life, Honeylove, Annie's Homegrown, and the PGA.
